The Proposal

On March 15th, 2009, Johnny took me to the Napa Valley for a day of wine tasting, unbeknown to me this was the "BIG DAY." Johnny started off the day with my favorite beginning, Starbucks, and off we went to Napa.... When we left the house, I had no idea, however I was a little concerned when Johnny did not set the alarm to the house because he had been so adamant about it for the past few months. First stop, Sterling Vineyards in Calistoga. Up the gondola's we went, and the wine tasting began.... I was a bit skeptical of why Johnny left his big pea coat on all day, I mean it was a little drizzly, but not cold, still no clue. We have been together for almost 5 years at the time, and going to Napa was not out of the norm for us...After Sterling we had some time to kill before the next tasting, so we went to a small local Mexican restaurant called Pacifico's for some chips and salsa and I thought maybe a beer or two....two shots of tequila, and a beer each later, we were off to Castello Di Amorosa. The tequila definitely warmed us up, yet the pea coat was still on, and I think Johnny's nerves were a little lighter. As we arrive to this beautiful castle in Calistoga, which I highly recommend you all go see, we are greeted by a nice man named Zeek. Zeek was pretty strong minded on me using the restroom before we started this tour, which I thought was a little odd, but I was about half in the bag at this point, so I did. To get to the point, after a wonderful tasting and a beautiful castle, here comes Zeek again asking if we wanted to grab a bottle of our favorite wine and head to a part of the Castle that not a lot of people get to see....We thought, sure, sounds great!....So Zeek is taking us up these stairs, behind closed doors and unleashing ropes for us to venture into. As we are approaching the top of the castle, Zeek suddenly says, "oh no, my girlfriend is calling she must be going into labor, I need to get going, you guys go ahead and come down when your done!" I STILL did not have a clue! So, Johnny and I go up to the highest part of this castle and all the sudden I see Johnny's nerves set in, and then I begin to wonder..... He grabs me to give me a hug, and would not let go...hahaha....So sweet! He began to tell me all these wonderful things and got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him! So excited, I of course said YES, and as he picks me up to swing me around, with my ring on hand, big, shinny, beautiful foreign object on my finger, he accidentally scraped my hands on the bricks. Oh it was great, we were both so worried about the ring, and not my bloody knuckles....So I have this beautiful ring to show off with this gashed up knuckles, and nothing else in the world matters! What a beautiful and memorable day!! So, I finally figured out why the pea coat was on for the whole day in Napa!

For those of you who know us well, know we enjoy family, friends and fine wine. We are so excited to spend this upcoming day with all of you, and could not ask for anything more than for you all to enjoy this day with us! Johnny and I are so excited that this day is finally here and that we get to share it with all of you!
